Welcome To The 5th Grade!

Hi, my name is Mrs. Sims and I LOVE teaching children! I would like to personally welcome you and your child to the 5th grade! I will be teaching English Language Arts/Reading/Social Studies. This year is sure to be an exciting one as your child embarks on learning in a fun and intellectual environment. This year will be full of stimulating learning experiences for your child that will not only teach independent learning skills but also successful procedures to use in their daily lives.

I encourage all students to strive towards their goals and be the best that they can be. I am a strong believer that a child can do anything they put their mind to! I will strive to make this experience for your child a positive one that will challenge their mind and make them eager to learn. I believe that the amount of effort a child puts into their work is what they will take out of it. With that said, it is my hope that children in my classroom put in the maximum amount of effort they have and come away from 5th grade excited to learn new material and use it in their life experiences.

The expectations for my classroom are to have children completing their assignments for my class in a caring and prideful manner. I will provide challenging questions to my class and encourage different opinions on open discussion topics. I expect each child to take pride in their work and understand that the grade they received is the grade they earned due to the effort they put forth.

I encourage you as a parent and/or guardian to be a part of your child's education by being actively involved in what your child is doing in school and homework assignments needing to be completed. I will be updating you in a timely manner on your child's progress and am open to any comments or questions you may have regarding your child's education.

Enclosed in my website is a Bookstore tab with links for books that may interest your child as well as yourself. There is also a News page to update you on important events coming up or assignments that are due. I am excited about this school year and look forward to teaching your child!

Thank you for sharng your child with me,

Mrs. Sims
